In July 2018, the National Trust for Historic Preservation embarked on a road trip from Chicago to
Los Angeles with a crew of photographers and storytellers whose personal journeys offered the world a passenger’s seat view of the Mother Road. The goal of this National Treasure campaign was to galvanize grassroots and political support to secure a permanent federal National Historic Trail designation for
Route 66. This look and feel was established to evoke nostalgia while keeping it fun and fresh.
